Baba Blakes - Feelgood-Indie - melancholisch, aber tanzbar.
Mit kleinen Schritten. Aus Dennis Zwickert wird das Künstlerprojekt Baba Blakes. Die Idee des deutsch nordirischen Musikers entstand Anfang 2020 in Singapur. Unter eigenem Namen begann Dennis seine Instagram-Karriere, lud Musikcover hoch und teilte seinen Alltag im Internet. Infolgedessen erreichte der Musiker tausende Follower auf seinem Kanal. Im Hinterkopf wuchs der Wunsch nach einem eigenen Künstlerprojekt, selbst in diesen ungewöhnlichen Zeiten.
Dinge positiv sehen. Dennis investierte in sich und sein Homestudio, um eigene Songs und Videos zu produzieren - um einfach kreativ zu sein. Die Umsetzung seines Do-It Yourself Konzepts und die Umbenennung in Baba Blakes geschah im Mai 2021.
Das Konzept steht. Die Debütsingle ‚On The Run’ erschien am 11. Juni 2021 zusammen mit einem Musikvideo. Die darauffolgende Single ‚Sign‘ kam am 06. August 2021 raus. Die dritte Single ‚Hypnotized' wurde am 12. November veröffentlicht.
Weitere Schritte. Für Baba Blakes startete das Jahr 2022 sehr ereignisreich. Im März nahm er in den legendären Hansa Studios eine Session für Deluxe Music auf und sprach im anschließenden Interview mit Markus Kavka über seine bisherige Entwicklung. Am 29. April erschien mit ‚Sweethoneylove‘ die erste Single des neuen Jahres, bevor im Mai die erste Headlinertour durch neun Städte startete.
Anschließend erschien in dieser aufregenden Zeit die nächste Single mit dem Titel ‚BLOF‘. Das Releasedatum war der 12. August.
Im Sommer stehen viele Festivalshows auf dem Plan und für den Herbst 2022 ist die Debüt-EP bereits in Planung. Finanzielle Unterstützung bietet das Förderprogramm der Initiative Musik. Die musikalische Idee Baba Blakes‘ orientiert sich an Playlist-Sounds im Feelgood-Indie-Bereich mit Künstler:innen wie Roosevelt, Giant Rooks und vielen weiteren. Aber Dennis ist auch von seiner alten Band ‚In My Days‘ geprägt. Referenzen wie Rock im Park und über 300 weitere gespielte Konzerte, Musikplatzierungen auf RTL ZWEI, TV-Erfahrungen vor Millionenpublikum auf VOX, zwei EPs und ein Album formten den Musiker.

With small steps. Dennis Zwickert becomes the artist project Baba Blakes. The idea of the German Northern Irish musician was born in Singapore at the beginning of 2020. Under his own name, Dennis began his Instagram career, uploading music covers and sharing his everyday life on the internet. As a result, the musician reached thousands of followers on his channel. In the back of his mind, the desire to have his own artist project grew, even in these unusual times.
Seeing things positively. Dennis invested in himself and his home studio to produce his own songs and videos - to simply be creative. The implementation of his Do-It Yourself concept and the renaming to Baba Blakes happened in May 2021.
The concept stands. The debut single 'On The Run' was released on 11 June 2021 along with a music video. The following single 'Sign' came out on 06 August 2021. The third single 'Hypnotized' was released on 12 November.
Further Steps. The year 2022 got off to an eventful start for Baba Blakes. In March, he recorded a session for Deluxe Music at the legendary Hansa Studios and spoke about his development so far in the subsequent interview with Markus Kavka. On 29 April, the first single of the new year, 'Sweethoneylove', was released, before the first headlining tour through nine cities started in May.
This was followed by the release of the next single titled 'BLOF' during this exciting time. The release date was 12 August.
Many festival shows are on the schedule for the summer and the debut EP is already being planned for autumn 2022. Financial support is provided by the Initiative Musik funding programme. Baba Blakes' musical idea is oriented towards playlist sounds in the feel-good indie area with artists:inside like Roosevelt, Giant Rooks and many more. But Dennis is also influenced by his old band 'In My Days'. References like Rock im Park and over 300 other concerts played, music placements on RTL ZWEI, TV experiences in front of an audience of millions on VOX, two EPs and an album shaped the musician.
